On this day in 2015, Men’s 11th World Cup edition started jointly in Australia and New Zealand. This was the second time the World Cup was held in Australia Continent.

Inaugural match were held in Christchurch where New Zealand and Sri Lanka met. New Zealand won the match by 98 runs. Same day, at Melbourne, Australia faced England and beat them easily by 111 runs.

Australia lift the CWC 2015 trophy by beating co-host New Zealand by 7 wickets.
